Meet your Hiking Elopement Italy Photographer
Hello, I am your Dolomites Wedding Adventure Photographer.
My name is Shawna (she/her) and I am an European destination wedding photographer based in Italy. I’m originally from Vancouver, Canada, and that will always be my true home. I have been traveling all across this great, big world, which started as a solo trip, but in 2015 I picked up this crazy Belgian guy along the way and just couldn’t get rid of him ever since. Turned out I had met the love of my life, and he’s put a ring on my finger, so I now live in Italy.
The serious bits: A graduate from photography school, I’ve been shooting professionally since 2013. My specialties are hiking elopements in Italy, weddings, honeymoons… anything to do with love – including classy boudoir!
A few things about me: as an outdoorsy person, I love being in nature. I find happiness when I’m surrounded by mountains, trees, and lakes. My favourite drink is green tea. My favourite food is lasagna. I am vegan and try to eat whole foods plant-based because I am against animal cruelty, for the planet, and want to know I did my best to live a healthy life. I’m a huge environment geek and try to lower my footprint whenever I can (#zerowaste #takethetrain). Some of my favourite things to do are yoga, rock climbing, hiking, and camping in the wilderness with a cozy fire to curl up by.
Dolomites Wedding Adventure Itinerary
There are several ways to do this trip and it is very dependent on which month you choose, but I will give one example of your Dolomites Adventure WeddingItinerary:
3:00pm- We meet at the meeting location listed here or the trailhead
3:30pm- We start hiking up, I take photos along the way and we make necessary breaks for snacks and water
5:30pm- We’ve made it to the top! We have a quick snack, then the two of you change into your elopement outfits, I take “getting ready” photos
6:00pm- We start taking some epic sunset photos for your Dolomites wedding adventure. You can read your vows here.
7:30pm- Dinner in the hut (they provide it since we’re sleeping there!)
10 or 11pm- Star gazing photos
Midnight- We’re in bed by now for sure
The next day (perhaps with a different outfit? Up to you!)
8:00am- Wakeup, otherwise we miss breakfast at the hut. Depending on the situation, I take some cute photos of the two of you cuddling in bed with morning coffee
10:00am- Walk down, perhaps I take some more photos of your hiking elopement in Dolomites Italy
Noon- We’re down and ready for lunch.
2:00pm- You choose- gelato or espresso? Or both? I will take photos of the two of you enjoying it
5:00pm- Drive to the Auronzo parking lot
5:30pm- Start hiking, I’m taking photos along the way. We’ve got several amazing photo stops around here, so we take our time.
8:00pm- By now we’ve had lots of sunset and blue hour photos, now we’re feeling pretty good! We’ve made it to the car and it’s time to head back. End of your Dolomites Wedding Adventure.
Dolomites Wedding Adventure - Comments
If the weather conditions make it dangerous to proceed with parts of your hiking elopement in Italy the itinerary might be adjusted.
In this itinerary, you get two different and equally gorgeous views in the Dolomites. I’m taking you up here not only for photos, but for the experience of seeing these majestic places during your Dolomites wedding adventure.
For our first stop, the highlight is the vivid blue lake with a mountainous backdrop and the whole experience behind staying in a hut during your hiking elopement in Italy. For our second, our focus is on the typical jagged peaks that the Dolomites are all about, and feeling like you’re just as high as they are.
We can change things up if you wish; we can do sunset at one place and sunrise at the other. In this case, we can check both places for hut availability because staying at one of the huts is crucial. If the weather is bad, I have some backup locations we can shoot at, they just require some adaptability because they will be farther away.

Payment terms for your Italy hiking elopement
15% directly payable as a deposit to our platform. Rest of payment goes directly to vendor.
25% – 3 months before the shoot date, is required to keep your booking.
The rest of the payment is due on the date.

Your Hiking Elopement in Italy does not include
The mountain hut for the two of you is not included in my price (for myself it is included), but we will all need accommodation for your Dolomites hiking elopement anyway and it will be very nice to sleep up there. As I said, meals are included in the price of the hut. The price depends on what time of year it is booked and can change yearly. This needs to be booked together to ensure we are all able to get a spot in the hut.
Hiking Elopement in Italy - Packlist
What you should bring to ensure some comfort during your hiking elopement in Italy?
I can give you a more specific preparation list upon booking (time of year makes a big difference), but be aware of the following:
Bring layers for all weather. The more lightweight the better
Bring a water bottle of 1L
Bring a hiking daypack that will fit a lightweight jacket, water bottle, phone, and hiking outfits. You may need a shower towel but normally it’s possible to rent those at the hut (and you may need to pay for a shower)
Bring cash! Italy is a country where you sometimes can’t use your card, especially in the mountains where they don’t always have service
Don’t forget snacks!
Wear comfortable hiking shoes or boots that your feet are already accustomed to
If you are saying vows, bring your vow booklets and pens to your hiking elopement in Italy. If you prefer to write your vows quickly at the top, we can do so, but then perhaps we will leave earlier
These are not the steepest/longest hikes ever but bring lightweight hiking poles if you know it’s necessary for you

The closest airport that you would realistically use is Treviso
You should rent a car because public transport isn’t the best, but be aware that unless specified, you will end up with manual transmission
Book travel insurance
If you’re not very fit, do try to prepare a bit because there will be some steep uphill walking. This Hiking elopement in Italy is doable by everyone I would say, but if you’re out of shape, it might be hard.
