To get to Venice, the nearest airport is Marco Polo (VCE), with transport options into the city including the Alilaguna boat, a private water taxi, or a bus or taxi to Piazzale Roma—after which you’ll continue on foot. If you’re arriving by train, get off at Venezia Santa Lucia station. For those driving, Piazzale Roma is the final point accessible by car.
Venice experiences four distinct seasons, so it’s important to dress accordingly. Spring and autumn (March–April and September–October) are generally mild but can be rainy, summer tends to be hot and humid, while winter is cold, especially near the water.
