Meet your Iceland Wedding Photographer

Iceland Wedding PhotographerHello, I am Lisa.

I turned my back on wedding traditions and I help couples to escape the ordinary. I’m a wedding and elopement photographer specializing in ice cave and glacier adventures.

Like many of my couples, I once found myself at a crossroads in life and love. Feeling uninspired by the prospect of a traditional wedding, I discovered the magic of elopements and never looked back. Now, I’m on a mission to help couples like you escape the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary.

But hey, it’s not all about work! When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll probably find me indulging my inner nerd. Yep, that’s right—I’m a proud aficionado of all things Star Wars, Harry Potter, anime, Doctor Who, and horror movies. So, if you ever want to geek out over lightsabers, and debate the best Hogwarts house or discuss the best plot twists in anime history, I’m your gal!

My heart also beats for my two cats who are my whole world you might even see them sometimes during our online call!

If you’re ready to get married in Iceland and start the adventure of a lifetime, let’s chat! I can’t wait to hear all about your wildest dreams with our Iceland Wedding Package and turn them into reality.

Your Iceland Wedding Package - Comments

Your Glacier Wedding can be rescheduled by ±2 days with at least 48 hours notice for cancellations.

The ice caves are popular places to get married in Iceland and there will be other tour companies operating in the area. With our Iceland wedding package, the biggest benefit is the private tour, which starts early in the morning before other tour companies, allowing you to have your ceremony in complete privacy.

LGBTQ+ friendly: Eloping in Iceland is for everyone. Your ice cave wedding day should be a celebration where you feel fully accepted, seen, and safe because you’ve found your forever person, and you deserve nothing less.

There is a possibility to get legally married: I can help you connect with officiants who will help you with paperwork.

Foreigners can get married in Iceland, but there are specific laws and paperwork required. Below are the details you’ll need:

  1. Age Requirement – Both partners must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Divorce Papers – If either partner has been previously married, divorce papers must be provided.

It’s recommended to submit all required documents 3–4 weeks before your Glacier Wedding day. You can email the documents for submission.

Required Documents

  • Marriage Notification – From Hjónavígsluskýrsla, the District of Magistrate in Reykjavík. This form must be completed and signed by both partners and two witnesses. (I have even acted as a witness before!)
    • According to the Icelandic National Registry – “Notifications of marriage ceremonies are received from heads of religious associations or their representatives, priests, or district commissioners to be registered in the National Registry.”
  • Birth Certificates – The birth certificates of both partners must be attached to the marriage application. Originals can be returned after the wedding ceremony.
    • Only originals or officially authorized copies (with a stamp or seal) are accepted.
  • Certificate of Marital Status – This document, often referred to as a Certificate of No Impediment (CNI), must be issued within 8 weeks prior to the wedding date.
  • Divorce Decree – If applicable, a divorce decree must be provided. If one partner is widowed, a document confirming the estate of the deceased has been finalized is required.

Your Iceland Wedding - Tips & Infos

  • Get married in Iceland with the help of this guide, “How to prepare for winter elopement in Iceland” which helps you to choose the right wedding dress for the low temperature and suit, how to dress warmly for your elopement day, why to have extra travel time during winter, how to drive safely, why to schedule your photos to daylight, what winter activities you can do during your visit in Iceland.
  • Having your Iceland wedding in the wintertime is one of the most magical ways to enjoy Iceland’s landscapes covered in snow.
  • Forget your high heels. Seriously I mean it. If you’re planning to have your wedding portraits taken in the snow or have some winter activities as part of your Iceland wedding package, don’t wear high heels. Even snow will be thick and good to walk on, there can be ice type which we call black ice in Iceland. This ice type is the one where people slip the most and can break their ankles fast. I can’t even count on my fingers how many times I have slipped because of black ice or because of any different type of ice. Secondly, it’s super cold and that’s why high heels won’t cover you and you can get frostbite. With proper winter boots, you can stay warmer and move more safely. I recommend checking shoes that are waterproof and have a texture at the bottom that would help you not to fall on ice if you choose to get married in Iceland.
  • Invest also in hand and toe warmers, scarves, and layers, and don’t forget about your head and ears, as these items are not included in our Iceland wedding package!
  • If you’re opting for our Iceland wedding package and want to stay warm, consider investing in high-quality clothing like jackets, trousers, and sweaters from Fjällräven. They’re my personal favorites for staying cozy and comfortable—haha! Remember, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing!
  • I also recommend having wool since it really is a good material to keep you warm.
  • If you forget something to pack with you, one good place to shop for winter clothes in Iceland is Icewear.
  • It’s good to add extra travel time if you get married in Iceland because cars might break from coldness or there can suddenly be roads blocked by the snow and there would be no option to get around it easily. If you happen to drive in the dark while having snowflakes falling, this mix can easily make eye tricks to believe and see things that aren’t really there and the roads can always be slippery.
  • Not all roads will be open during wintertime in Iceland. For example, there is no access at all to the highlands. Sometimes even the Ring road can be closed depending on how much snow has fallen and if no one has yet cleared the snow away. Mostly the weather is worse in the North part of Iceland but it’s always super important to be prepared while travelling in Iceland during wintertime.
  • Iceland’s snowstorms are something you need to take seriously. When snowstorm warnings have been given many parts of the Ring road can be closed for example closing the road to leave from Reykjavik or Vik.
  • During wintertime, we have specific hours of daylight in Iceland Around December the daylight can last for 4 hours, and in the northeast part of Iceland, it can be less! From January the daylight starts growing from 6 hours and by the middle of March, it’s already 11 hours in some parts of Iceland. Because of this, you need to choose which month you will get married in Iceland, and know about how many hours of daylight you will be having.
