On their actual California Elopement Wedding day, the couple will need to bring along their passports, driver’s license, or any government-issued photo ID and their marriage license with them.

They will need at least one witness (it could be me or their family or friends) and the officiant to sign on their marriage license. Or at two witnesses’ signatures if they’re self-uniting.

Lastly, they could also choose to have their marriage confidential so they don’t need witnesses at all. It’s to protect LGBTQ+ communities/certain religions or any other couples who wish not to make their marriage public.
