Roads in the mountains will be physically blocked off during snowy & icy months. There is a location in Kodak, TN (30-45 minutes outside of Gatlinburg) that is never closed and has a beautiful view of the mountains and requires no hiking. This will be the backup plan for your Smoky Mountains Elopement if all roads are closed by park rangers.
