Dreaming of an elopement that's anything but ordinary?
Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada, offers a one-of-a-kind desert landscape that feels straight out of a Western film or a cinematic masterpiece. With its dramatic hoodoos, sweeping canyons, and serene river views, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the perfect destination for adventurous couples who want to celebrate their love in a truly unique and unforgettable way.
We are a husband and wife team of Professional Photographers and planners to guide you.
The timing of your Alberta elopement will vary based on the sunset. Here’s an example for April:
Meet & Greet: We’ll meet you downtown Milk River. This is where the adventure begins!
First photos on a unique bridge: Quickly stop along the road to photograph the couple on a beautiful, unique iron bridge on a desert, American style.
Arrival at Writing-on-Stone Park UNESCO site! We’ll arrive at the park and start with photos on the west side, where you will have the opportunity to see unique hoodoos (rock formations). It's also where you will have the opportunity to read or pronounce your vows to each other. Surrounded by just birds. You can climb on the iconic hoodoos or we will pick a spot where you can have a 360-degree view of the canyon, river, and endless prairie skies.
Toast to Your Love: Time to celebrate! Enjoy homemade organic French pastries and a toast with Champagne or organic juice on a scenic rock overlooking the park. It’s a sweet, intimate moment just for the two of you.
Explore & Capture the Magic: We’ll explore the park’s stunning rock formations, canyons, and ancient rock carvings on the east side. Along the way, we’ll stop at breathtaking viewpoints for photos, walk through the desert landscape, and even head down to the river for a unique perspective of the hoodoos. Every moment is an opportunity to connect and create memories. We will go down to the river to the hoodoos from there. It's a great opportunity to see a lot of wildlife, including deer, pronghorn, pheasants, swallows, geese, coyotes and more.
Golden Hour & Sunset: As the sun begins to set, we’ll capture the magical golden hour light. The desert comes alive with warm hues, creating a dreamy backdrop for your photos.
End of Your Elopement Adventure: As the sun dips below the horizon, we’ll wrap up your unforgettable day. You’ll leave with memories (and photos!) to cherish forever.
The itinerary is flexible and we can also add some time if you want to extend your exploration.
If you like to see the night in the desert, we can start a bit later to enjoy the stars there.
Let's chat about that during our first e-meeting!

Legal Ceremony Information
Getting legally married in Alberta is wonderfully straightforward, and we’re here to make it easy for you. Here’s what you need to know about timing, complexity, and costs.
How Long Does It Take?
The process is refreshingly fast and flexible.
When you apply for a marriage licence at a registry agent, it is issued immediately on the spot.
While it's fast, we recommend connecting with the officiant at least three months before your ceremony to handle the paperwork without any rush.
How Difficult Is the Process?
Not difficult at all. Alberta has minimal legal hurdles, making it a very attractive place for destination weddings. It involves a few clear, manageable steps
Bring Your ID: Each of you needs valid government-issued photo ID (like a passport or driver's licence).
Choose an Officiant: We can recommend one to you. You need a licensed officiant to perform your ceremony.
Secure Two Witnesses: You'll need two adult witnesses (18+) to sign your marriage licence.
Note for International Couples: You do not need to be a resident of Alberta or Canada to get married here.
