If you love the idea of Banff and Lake Louise but dream of something quieter and more secluded...
Let us introduce you to Waterton Lakes National Park.
A hidden treasure of the Canadian Rockies, this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers the same dramatic mountain beauty, but with more silence, more intimacy, more variety, and fewer crowds. It's a place where mountains plunge into crystal lakes, where your elopement can unfold without rush, without hard hikes. Just you, the landscape, the moment.
Please note this is an example, but each itinerary is personal, and it's not a rigid schedule. We prefer a natural flow, designed around your comfort, your emotions, and the light. The time will change depending on the sunset time, but here’s an example for summer:
If you are staying in Waterton Lakes hotel, we will meet at your accommodation. Coffee, conversation, and a relaxed end of “getting ready” session. You do your own makeup if that calms you or we can book a professional makeup artist. You will decide if you would like a first look or if you prefer to get ready together.
Exchange vows in a place that feels like yours: by the water, in a meadow, or with the Prince of Wales Hotel viewpoint.
Now you are officially married, let's celebrate!
No exhausting treks. We curate multiple stunning spots within 30 minutes walking distance. Red Rock Canyon or a similar red canyon, depending on the season, For the most adventurous, a secret waterfall (more private than you’d believe), The wildflower meadow with mountain views, Waterton Lake shoreline, You arrive radiant, not exhausted. There will be opportunities to see bears, elk, marmots, and more.
We set up a cute picnic area and we bring homemade French pastries and organic juice (or Champagne) for a Pause Gourmande in the wild. A little taste of France, served with breathtaking Alberta views: just breathe and enjoy.
You don’t pose you. We watch, we guide lightly, we capture the laugh when the wind almost knocks you over, the tears you didn’t expect, the kiss that says everything. And maybe a spontaneous skinny-dip, we’ve seen it all. The lake will be here if you want to taste the water!
Golden light on the mountains and the lake. Final portraits and discovery as the mountains turn purple. You finish your day feeling accomplished, deeply connected, ready for a gourmet meal and a comfortable bed.
End of your Waterton Park Wedding. We will suggest an amazing restaurant to celebrate a bit longer.
Is the itinerary flexible?
Absolutely. We never lock you into a rigid timeline. Your elopement should feel like you, not like a photoshoot with a stopwatch. We work with you to create a loose framework when we will e-meet, then we adapt together based on weather, energy, and unexpected magic (like a sudden clearing sky or a curious deer). The only fixed point is your love story.
Does your experience only work with sunrise or sunset?
Not have to. Sunrise and sunset are beautiful, but so is golden hour, the soft light of a cloudy afternoon, or the moody drama of an incoming storm. We photograph in all kinds of light. What matters is that you feel comfortable and present. You don't have to be early birds. We find the best light for your rhythm. We work with portable lights to make sure we are flexible.
Ceremony Venue
Your ceremony takes place outdoors, in a stunning public location within Waterton Lakes National Park, never in a venue or hotel room. Think lakeshore, wildflower meadows, or mountain viewpoints.
Legal Ceremony Information
Getting legally married in Alberta is wonderfully straightforward, and we’re here to make it easy for you. Here’s what you need to know about timing, complexity, and costs.
How Long Does It Take?
The process is refreshingly fast and flexible.
When you apply for a marriage licence at a registry agent, it is issued immediately on the spot.
While it's fast, we recommend connecting with the officiant at least three months before your ceremony to handle the paperwork without any rush.
How Difficult Is the Process?
Not difficult at all. Alberta has minimal legal hurdles, making it a very attractive place for destination weddings. It involves a few clear, manageable steps
Bring Your ID: Each of you needs valid government-issued photo ID (like a passport or driver's licence).
Choose an Officiant: we can recommend one to you. You need a licensed officiant to perform your ceremony.
Secure Two Witnesses: You'll need two adult witnesses (18+) to sign your marriage licence.
Note for International Couples: You do not need to be a resident of Alberta or Canada to get married here.
